Scribbler Drawing Contest Results

I want to start by saying thanks to the brave people who entered this contest. We had over 15 entries, and considering how difficult the oekaki program can be to work with, that’s quite impressive! Wait ’til you see what they managed to create with it!

Now, this is a bit late as one of my judges has been hard to track down. But without further ado, the results of the Scribbler drawing contest:

Again, we split it into two categories: best overall, and most creative.

Top 3:

Ronja Liek

Something about the fuzziness around the borders and the little pine sprig makes this setting look like a real still-life painting!” – Edmund Smethwyck

I really like the candle. And it’s so Christmas-y. Also the shading and the blurriness give it a really cool effect.” – Eno Thomas

I honestly love the whole drawing, but what really got to me was the painting-like effect it has, which makes it look ever better and more Christmas-y in my opinion. Your second try looked nice as well, though as you said yourself in a comment “I prefer the other one, more Christmas.” – Zoki Phantom

Very impressive! Love the colours and the overall softness of the image.” – Alexander Greb

Lisette Westerveldt

I am left in awe of your abilities with the program, you’ve managed to create the cutest and loveliest image ever, and it looks so good that I would actually consider printing it out and framing it in my room. I like how you’ve covered everything I could think of – the night-sky in the background looks magical, and the snowman looks almost real, especially with the shadow on the snow.” – Zoki Phantom

The background is really amazing, and the shading on the snowman makes it pop out at me! Truly fantastic artwork.” – Edmund Smethwyck

I really like this one. I like all the shading you’ve added to the moon, the snowman and to the sky.” – Eno Thomas

Colour of the Sky is very intriguing! I love the swirls of blue around the stars. Also, the snowman looks very realistic and almost 3D! LOVE IT.” – Alexander Greb

Kirra Rohan

That’s fantastic! I like everything from the snowy background to how appealing that snow looks. Even the snowman has something special to it, and don’t get me started on how great the moon is. I’m really running out of words to say.” – Zoki Phantom

The texture of the background is really cool. Yay, snowman? thing!” – Alexander Greb

Most Creative:

Sirius Fudge

I really like the way you’ve played with the shades. It looks like a real stormy Christmas from the window of my room.” – Eno Thomas

I like how the focus of the picture isn’t necessarily the snowman himself, but the snowy climate. I think it looks a lot like what we picture as the typical postcard, drawn in ShiPainter!” – Edmund Smethwyck

Alexander Bowne

I must say, I didn’t expect anything Star Wars combined with Christmas! This picture definitely is set apart creatively, and it’s a pretty good representation of Yoda, to boot!” – Edmund Smethwyck

Yoda Claus caught my attention as I was scrolling down the page! The idea to put Yoda in Santa’s uniform actually made me laugh out loud. I love the concept and originality. Way to go Alexander ;)” – Alexander Greb

Great job to all the winners! But be sure to check out the other entries over at The Scribbler. There were a lot of wonderful submissions. Go see!
